The Gila River Indian Community established the Office of Planning and Evaluation over 35 years ago. The office provides assistance in planning, performs program evaluations, assist in writing policy and procedures, facilitates many meetings and workshops for existing programs and departments as well as for executive administration, and provides technical assistance.
The planning efforts are focused on Strategic Planning, programmatic planning, and a Planning Ordinance. Strategic planning entails the cumulative plans of Gila River emerging together cohesively. The planning ordinance would allow the strategic plan to operate successfully. Programmatic planning entails assisting the requestor in developing an action plan and other pertant documents to establish a plan for their department or program.
The second component of the office is evaluations. The program evaluators use an Evaluation Schedule which outlines how, when, and who will be evaluated. This is done separate from entities requesting an evaluation on their own accord. Evaluations are viewed as a proactive tool which provides direction to a department to become more successful and to reach their goals and objectives.
Many districts and elder organizations request our assistance in writing policy, procedures, and bylaws. We are proud to have staff with the skills to provide this service to our community.
We receive a high amount of requests for facilitation assistance from a variety of entities within Gila River. This service has allowed our staff to become more versatile and skilled with their facilitation methods.
Technical assistance constitutes advice, direction, and coordination to inquiring Departments, Offices, Districts and Business Corporations operating in the Gila River Indian Community. Providing technical assistance works in conjunction with providing planning, evaluations, development of policies and procedures, grants and contracts development and preparation to the requestor.
In addition, the office contributes time, assistance, and funds for outreach events within the Community; such events as assisting community members in constructing a church, fundraisers for a variety of activities to support the community, plan and coordinate beautification projects within the community.
