Governor Rhodes congratulates Cpl Osife
Gila River Police Corporal George Osife whose employment spans over 28 years in law enforcement is the January 2010 Governor’s Employee of the Month recipient. No stranger to police work, Corporal Osife’s time in service goes back to law enforcement positions with the BIA, actually predating the establishment of the Gila River Police Department. Currently he holds the position of School Resource Officer but has had numerous other law enforcement positions to include patrol and administrative duties.
To protect and serve is the usual motto of a police officer. However, besides exemplifying the standard operating practices of law enforcement, Corporal Osife’s commitment outside of his regular duties has won him the respect and admiration of his peers. Corporal Osife has served in numerous projects including the special annual Toys for Tots. He has collaborated with other Community entities to ensure the welfare and safety of its members and children. Additional projects include CPR training and ordinances coordination at the schools, assisting with social services calls, hospital trips and referrals to outside entities.
As an enrolled community member at District 5, Corporal Osife as a private citizen engages unselfishly in its social life. His interest in its people extends well beyond his work life as a police officer. On any particular day you may find Corporal Osife or George Osife the private citizen talking to children, volunteering his free time to benefit a community member, or simply answering questions that pertain to the safety and welfare of children and community members as a whole.
The very act of the selection committee making a final choice for Governor’s Employee of the Month is never an easy task. Corporal George Osife most assuredly exemplifies that exceptional employee that makes a difference in peoples lives, delivers excellent customer service, and as such, strives to be the complete employee and citizen. We extend our sincerest congratulations to Corporal George Osife for his commitment to his work and community life.
