GRIC Presents Revenue Sharing Checks to the City of Phoenix

Greg Mendoza and Cheryl Pablo represented the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) in presenting three checks to the city of Phoenix on Tues, Dec. 2, at the Phoenix City Council policy session.

The checks were given as part of Gila Riverʼs 2008 distribution of Indian Gaming Revenue designated as local revenue sharing.

The Community provided portion of its annual 12 percent local revenue sharing contribution to the city, which will then regrant the funds to St. Maryʼs Food Bank Alliance and provide direct funds to several city programs.

A $100,000 grant, one year of a $300,000, three-year commitment by GRIC, was given to the alliance for their Ending Hunger, Changing Lives Capital Campaign.

The cityʼs Parks and Recreation Department received $125,000 for the interior restoration of the Dining Hall Building at Steele Indian School Park, and the Phoenix Family Advocacy Center received $25,837 for victim counseling services.
